Funding was of paramount importance to me and since the University of Cincinnati had offered me a full tuition waiver I decided to study at this university. Research in my area of specialization and the ranking of the school were two factors I used for my application process.

I had 2 other admits when I decided to come to Cincinnati. The University at Buffalo and the University of Texas at Dallas were the two other universities. I had good GRE and TOEFL scores, 85% in my acads and was 1st in my university at undergraduate level.

My tip to other Indian students about funding is to have some back up even if you have a full tuition waiver. In my case although I was confident of getting UGS for 2nd year also I took a student loan just as a back up. Do not explicitly mention this unless asked about specifically in your visa interview.

The University of Cincinnati has top engineering faculty and very good facilities. Living is not very expensive.
