Great fun, learnt a lot.
Very easy visa interview, with an I-20 from this school, they hardly ask any questions, cake walk. GRE was required for the Selection Process. Travel was pretty easy, travelled Northwest airlines to DTW, AA is around 30 miles from DTW.
GSR, GSI, Fellowship
Outstanding course, very hands on. There are no issues whatsoever in this department. The program cost came up to $52,000.
I lived in Apartments and you do not need a car to survive. Part-time jobs are quite easy to get. Winters are very severe, dont bother buying winter clothes in India, they are not suited to the weather here. Come here and get them. Yes, there is an Indian students association. During the time we entered, the association was most active. There are number of fun events, and whats more, they even arrange for your apartment, airport pickup etc. This might have changed for the worse though, this kind of thing is very dependent on the level of enthusiasm of the people heading the association. Living arnd 500 per month.
Graduated in a hard time, and therefore had a hard time. The University has a great placement body called Engintrak. if the times are good, and the economy is doing good, placement is around a 100%, this is a premier institute, and recruiters repect that. If the economy is bad, then jobs are hard to find, and tution is expensive, so you are toast. There is an Indian Student Association but I am not part of it, cannot comment.
