Very good place and university to study in US, lots of opportunities to excel at your field especially if you are coming for liberal arts and science and biomedical field or management studies. Ranks within top 10 in most of the academic fields.

I had to write GRE and TOEFL. I prepared for GRE and TOEFL through different books like Kaplan, Big Book and various online resources. I didn’t attend any coaching classes neither did I use any educational counsellor. I needed a visa, the visa experience was very good, didn’t face many questions as full funding was assured from the university. It was easy to get the tickets. I flew Lufthansa and I availed of the student fare offered. I landed at RDU airport, which is 20 miles from the institution. We were allowed 23 pounds for each check in baggage, 15 pounds for carry bag. Extra baggage was allowed. I did not face any immigration problems at the port of entry. No Meet and Greet service offered by the university.

I got full tuition waiver and monthly stipend for 12 months and 9 months based on program. Not many students get admission without aid and if someone gets they can earn by tutoring undergrads.

I like the program very much. The professors are awesome. There are 2 huge and different dept libraries so no complain.

I stay in off campus housing. The lecture halls are good and spacious mostly. People are mostly friendly and ready to offer help. Not much happening night life except in downtown where people have options to hang around and party. The weather is very good, not much cold or hot with occasional rains in between. We do have an international students society at the university. They organise various events like pick up of international students, providing accommodation, celebrating festivals, service projects, etc.

There are placement cells at the university. Job prospects for international students really depends on so many factors. I dont have a very good idea about campus placement. Many reputed multinational companies attend. One has to go through international centre for work permits. I think the alumni society is pretty active. I have no idea if it helps with placements.
