I chose to study at UQ because it has tradition of excellence in the field of Peace Studies and the academic staff is unique in Australia, bringing together a comprehensive team of professionals to teach. Furthermore, the teaching environment is focused in theory and practice – what is the differential of this course at UQ.

I was very impressed at the first moment with the high standards of the academic staff. The teaching facilities are extremely sophisticated and the methods very modern – and the high level of scientific production is impressive – we are learning from a very high qualified team of experts in the field of Peace And Conflict Studies. Furthermore, the Rotary Centre of International Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution brings to UQ a culturally diversified team of students what influences positively the learning environment. The research facilities at UQ are high standard, and we have a broad support of professionals like IT technicians and librarians. I am very impressed with the level of investment in the Social Sciences and Humanities Library – what is essential to a proper research environment in the field.

I am part of the Rotary World Peace Fellowship – a unique initiative of Rotary International – which sponsors students from all around the world to study at UQ. We have the opportunity to study with experienced academicians, the majority of them authors of books and articles – and be in touch with students from all around the world. This is very important for a professional of the field: a multicultural approach to peace. ‘Living in Australia is a unique experience. This young and multicultural country has a friendly environment – essential fact for a student living far from family and friends. But campus environment made my way to new friends. In 3 weeks I was calling Brisbane home. It is also important to point that there are plenty of respect to your cultural background.

Prior to UQ I was practicing law in Brazil – focused in the field of Business Law. This program enhanced me as a legal professional and gave qualities which are differentials in the job market. I hope to gain a position in the legal support for a NGO or International Organisation. I have great interest on offer my services for a position in the Red Cross system – one of the topics of my research.
