The Institute of Continuing Education, founded in 1873, was the first English university department in continuing education. It is located at Madingley Hall and provides opportunities for adult learners to study at Cambridge University level on a part-time basis. The various subjects available at the continuing education department include the following: Archaeology and Anthropology, Art, Music, Theatre and Film, Counselling and Psychology, Education, History, History of Art and Architecture, Languages, Legal Studies, Life Skills, Literary Studies, Philosophy and Religion, etc.
