Limestone College was established in 1845, as the first women's college in South Carolina; it became fully coeducational in the late 1960s. Limestone is a four-year liberal arts institution whose programs lead to bachelors of arts, science and social work, and associate degrees in arts and science. The College enrolls more than 700 traditional day students and 2,800 extended campus students at 10 sites in South Carolina and on the Internet. The main campus is located in Gaffney, South Carolina.
